mutual friends. italy. facebook. photography.
that pretty much sums up how i virtually met joe pulcinella! the world truly is getting smaller, no?
aside from our mutual italian friends and our love for photography, we both love italy. :) joe’s from the US and next year he plans on doing his own photo tour thru italy! yay!!
joe is also a teacher and does workshops - something i would love to do one day.. :) maybe when i “grow-up” :)
enought of me..let’s get to joe.. thanks again joe for taking the time to be a part of FOLLOW-A-FABOULOUS-PERSON FRIDAY. without further delay, may i introduce to you - joe pulcinella.
TLH: what is the favorite part of what you do (business wise)?
Joe: I started my career as a commercial photographer and spent a lot of time alone in my studio. Since switching to weddings, I’m able to be a part of the lives of my clients at one of the happiest times of their lives and that feels good!
TLH: how did you get started? everyone asks, i know, but peeps wanna know!
Joe: I shot product, architecture and commercial portrait for 15 years before doing my first wedding. Then I saw a book on wedding photojournalism featuring a photo by Joe Buissink on the cover. I was hooked after that! Wedding photography was no longer the guy in the tuxedo with the ruffles shirt and banged-up Bronica. It was almost fashion photography and I wanted to be a part of it.
TLH: if you could live anywhere in the world for a year, money not an issue, where would it be and why?
Joe: It would definitely be Italy. I am third-generation Italian-American but was brought up doing things the “Italian way” if you know what I mean so the lifestyle there just feels to comfortable. Sometimes I think life just moves too fast here in the US.
TLH: favorite story/memory of past client/work/project.
Joe: I can’t pinpoint a favorite story since new ones happen every time I shoot a wedding. But I guess my favorite clients are the ones who allow lots of “play time” on their wedding day so that I can make photos for them that they’ll really love. My biggest thrill is coming home with images that I want to put into my portfolio and that my clients love, too.
TLH: what is your favorite foods to eat? to make? to buy? why?
Joe: Anyone who knows me knows I make the world’s best pizza (at least that what my kids say). The secret ingredient? Love!
TLH: where do you see yourself in your biz and life in 5 years?
Joe: I love to teach and hopefully inspire others in the industry. I do seminars and workshops now and would love to do even more in the future. My own style is still developing and changing so I don’t think I’ll ever run out of things to talk about! :o)
TLH: how do you want to be remembered?
Joe: A father, a friend, a husband, an inspiration… not necessarily in the order.
