i first met sach in vancouver, through a VANPHOTOGS meet-up that i founded in 2008. i was drawn to his very peaceful and genuine personality. he was such a breath of fresh air to be around. and his story so fascinating - coming over from LONDON, UK to vancouver for the summer, learning lots to go back and get his photography business going in full gear. and that he did. as we continued to chat via the interwebs, i always knew i’d have a friend in LONDON if ever i went - which i will one day yet, sach!
his style is very classic and clean…and he captures the moments so amazingly. thanks, sach, for being a guest on my #FF blog post today! :) may i introduce to you, Sach.
TLH: what is the favorite part of what you do (business wise)?
Sach: Shooting. I love shooting weddings & portrait the most and and capturing real moments in the best light available.
The best thing about this business is that it never feels like work. I really love it! When I’m not shooting weddings or portraits, I still shoot with either my iPhone or a small compact camera. I love to travel and shoot too.
TLH: how did you get started? everyone asks, i know, but peeps wanna know!
Sach: I started shooting at a young age and my progression accelerated after digital cameras came out. I used to shoot film before but it was expensive as a teenager. I shot a friend’s wedding in India a few years ago and absolutely loved it. I then made it my aim to second shoot or assist as many weddings one summer when I lived in Vancouver, Canada. I learnt a lot at these weddings and after a second season of doing the same, I decided it was time to start shooting my own.
TLH: if you could live anywhere in the world for a year, money not an issue, where would it be and why?
Sach: India. I love this country and it has everything to offer. It’s diverse, has great beauty and a range of cultures and traditions. And as a vegetarian, the food is the best!
I would love to spend a lot of time there getting to know the country and the people more. I would also ofcourse have my camera with me at all times :)
TLH: favorite story/memory of past client/work/project
Sach: At a recent wedding, I was due to finish at about 1030pm, an hour after the first dance. I spent the whole day with the couple and their friends and I just stayed at kept shooting, dancing with everyone. The energy was amazing. I ended up finally putting my cameras down at 1am when the dj’s left but then stayed up with the rest of the wedding party til 4am. I felt like I had made a whole new bunch of friends that night and I won’t be forgetting how much fun I had at that wedding anytime
soon. It was definitely an amazing experience.
TLH: what is your favorite foods to eat? to make? to buy?
Sach: Baked potatos. Simple, quick and easy. I grew up on them as a kid and still have them on a regular basis. Can’t beat a good spud!
TLH: where do you see yourself in your biz and life in 5 years?
Sach: I don’t really plan that far ahead. I always make plans for the next month and have a broad 2 year plan that actually ends on my 30th birthday. Ill be making a new one soon.
Generally I want my business to have grown to a decent size, have a good client base and to have enough work such that I can give all my clients the attention they deserve whilst being able to still spending time with close family and friends.
TLH: how do you want to be remembered?
Sach: That’s a tough one. Probably as a good partner, son, brother, friend, person etc :)
