if you are a part of that huge social network we call TWITTER, you will know that we do this thing (altho i’ve been SLACK the last while!) called #FF or forward friday. we list one or more people we want OUR followers to follow cuz they are freakin rad. :)

so i decided to incorporate this into my blog overhaul for fridays - cool huh!? :) and i have such an incredible line-up of absolutely crazy gifted people being featured every week. as in CRAZY gifted. :)

today i am featuring a long-time friend and fellow wedding photog, and also an amazing creative artist, REINE MIHTLA. Not only have i had the priviledge of shooting some pretty photos with her for Grace Ormonde but i have had the priviledge of having such rich conversation and views of life in a completely different way. (Reine also had a major part in the design of my future tatoo!) Reine is one in her own. Her story is incredible. Her art is mind-blowing. so today i welcome Reine to my blog. Thank you for taking a few moments and for kicking off my first FOLLOW-A-FABULOUS-PERSON FRIDAY.

TLH: what is the favorite part of what you do (business wise)?
Reine: My favourite part of shooting weddings is it is one of the creative industries where anything goes while also being one of the worlds oldest celebrations.

TLH: how did you get started? everyone asks, i know, but peeps wanna know!
Reine: Up until I got married I said NO WAY to shooting weddings. I thought they were stressful, uncreative and not a job for a ‘real photographer’. In preparation for my own wedding I hand made and hand painted 120 cake plates, created pop-up invitations, decorations galore and my photographer (my assistant at the time) did not photograph any of it. When the day was over and the decorations were gone I did not have a single image that documented all the time and effort I had spent on planing the event and in that moment I said, “If I ever shoot weddings I will remember to look for the details”…  A month later I was asked to shoot a wedding. I said yes and nailed it!

TLH: if you could live anywhere in the world for a year, money not an issue, where would it be and why?
Reine:
I have traveled the world… and there is nothing more beautiful than my own back yard. I don’t search for perfection anymore. I live in perfection everyday and I am love.

TLH: favorite story/memory of past client/work/project.
Reine: The truth is I don’t have a favourite. I learn everyday. I integrate and focus on the present. My imagination is so full with what I’m creating now while watching my cucumbers and tomatoes bloom that digging through the archives seems dusty. Everything I have done and every person I have met has brought me to where I am today and that is my celebration.

TLH: what is your favorite foods to eat? to make? to buy? why?
Reine: Food is my favourite. I just reorganized all of my external hard drives and just learned that I have more food photography than anything else. That came as a bit of a shock! I’m eating at French Laundry in Napa next week and I’m hoping to pick up some new tricks… and maybe some new ingredients because I love cooking at home. I just bought some Alder Smoked all natural and unrefined Canadian Sea Salt, harvested from the cold Pacific waters of Vancouver Island BC (perfecting my 100 mile diet).

TLH: where do you see yourself in your biz and life in 5 years?
Reine: HAHAHAH who can realistically answer this question in 2011?

TLH: how do you want to be remembered?
Reine: I, Reine Mihtla, hereby declare before myself, others and Spirit that my primary purpose in life is to ignite imagination and radiate love by being an authentic and integrated human being who is constantly growing as a woman, world class artist, visionary and voice of my generation.  This is so I can do amazing things for the planet by bringing a new paradigm of how LOVE, GRATITUDE and positive IMAGINATION (also known as clean energy) can and will generate global unity. Through my actions I will travel the world inspiring others as a radiating example of what is possible when a soul is aligned, focused and surrendered to a mission that serves far beyond itself and, in doing so, leave a legacy that transcends my lifetime and helps evolve humanity towards a higher and more meaningful level of existence, consciousness and alignment with the greater good. (And I also want to be the first person to shoot a wedding in outer space)
