christmastime is here || manila destination wedding photographer

if you know us at all, you know we LOVE christmas.

all of our friends (and family) in canada and in the west think we are NUTS cuz we would always have our tree up in OCTOBER.

dude. its a season, not a day, the whole christmas thing - enjoy it!

so when we moved back here, we were not “weird” anymore…christmas decorations start going up as soon as the “-ber” months begin - septemBER, octoBER…get it?

my handy dandy iphone app tells me that there are 31 days until christmas day. wow.

what will we be doing our first christmas back in the philippines and rosie’s first christmas in the philippines?

well…we plan to do some baking of favorite christmas cookie recipes. we may have some of the toddlers and kids over for a christmas craft and cookie decorating day. we will have friends over for meals and j’s home-made egg nog (you can’t buy egg nog here..at least i have never seen it). christmas concerts at school and christmas services at church. playing board games and doing big puzzles. having a birthday cake for jesus and singing a song jonathan’s aunt wrote many moons ago. seeing the amazing LIGHT displays all over the city. wearing SHORTS and not freezing on christmas day.

ya it will rock.

here’s where we are at with our house decors right now… we may or may not be adding more lights. (ahem…probably yes!)

what do you do at christmas time to make it special?

here’s a few snaps i took of the stuff around our place here.. :)

caleb’s first christmas tree ornament for his first christmas. now every year i, along with my mom, give the kids an ornament for each of them so that when the day comes (i dont even want to THINK about that day) they will have a week collection to start their own collection of tree ornaments.

my LOVELY willow tree nativity set, started by my mom for me many years ago. :)

i bought this set of 3 wooden stars that can either hang or stand up at wonderbucks on commercial drive in vancouver one year. there wasn’t a place for me to stand them here without fear of them getting knocked over by animals or children and there were 3 hooks on the wall there from the previous owner/our landlord and i figured what the hay. :)

giggle. this is a funny story. our dear house girl did this - taped the stockings to the wall. i dont know if she knows what they are but knew they were christmas so thought they would look good there. i didn’t have the heart to take them down. :)
