what i love about istanbul || destination wedding photographer

at the end of this last october, i was priviledged to go to turkey to shoot for lonely planet philippines magazine. it was my first time to turkey. i honestly didn’t know what to expect.

i DO know that KAPADOKYA was my favorite place that we visited.

but this post isn’t about kapadokya. :) i decided i’d tell you what i loved about istanbul, one of the places where tourists always go when in turkey.

i love that we ate feta at EVERY. SINGLE. MEAL. i honestly couldn’t get enough. i also thought i’d be more “bunged” up than i was. (sorry if that was too much info. :)

but no, i ate sooo much. and loved it!! i ate it at breakfast, lunch and dinner. i even ate it when we went for drinks one night - instead of serving peanuts, as they normally do at pubs, they served tomatoes and feta. HELLO. that is awesome.

i loved that, even though i’m not muslim, that there was on loud-speakers every where, the 5 calls to prayer. EVERY. SINGLEDAY.

can you imagine if we all implemented that in life - to pray consistantly 5 times a day? wow. i’m thinking the world would be a crazy-better place. just saying. :)

i love the turkish coffee. as in LOVE. i love that its so unique and different. and has it’s own special coffee pot. i love the taste. i love the thickness of it.

i had better get a new grinder and FAST so i can use our coffee pot and turkish beans before they spoil. :)

i love that it feels and is a very safe city. even on the crazy itisklal street where zillions of pedestrians take over, i never once felt like someone was going to swipe my thousands of dollars worth of gear off my shoulders. cool feeling. :)

pommegranites. DUDE. they are SUPER cheap and sold everywhere. that right there would be a HIGH selling point in moving to turkey. :)

i love that there are so many things to see and photograph. as in ALWAYS. every texture and colour. so RAD!
