isn’t that rad or what?! :)

you see, cj was invited to the photogs party but she lives on vancouver island and couldn’t come over on the ferry. so someone made a paper cj…and we talked to her and hung out. it was awesome.

we then cultivated our friendship over twitter and facebook. cj is a filipina canadian and her tweets about her mom always made me giggle.

it was when i was shooting in victoria that i got together with her for coffee - and completely fell in love with this amazing soul. she is full of grace and poise. she is one of the sweetest people i have met. and ever since we stayed in touch. her and her hubs recently added their little bundle of joy to the family. and cj continues to rock the photography world with her amazing portraiture and wedding photography.

maraming salamat, pinay, sa feature mo dito sa blog ko. :) mahal! friends, meet cj. :)

TLH: what is the favorite part of what you do (business/organization wise)?
CJ:
The part I love most about my job is documenting the celebration.  The joy.  The laughter.  The tears.  The relationships.  I love a good love story and I consider it a great privilege to do what I do.

TLH: how did you get started? everyone asks, i know, but peeps wanna know!
CJ: I began my photography career in 2006 and shot my first wedding that summer in Sweden.  I remember my stomach being in knots the day before and day of the wedding!  Photographing beautiful, happy people in the Swedish countryside was inspiring for sure.  When I returned home to Vancouver, I knew in my heart that photographing weddings and more specifically, people in love, was something that I needed to do.  So I forged ahead and started booking clients mainly through word of mouth.  I moved my business from Vancouver to Victoria at the beginning of 2007 and haven’t looked back.  These past five years have flown by!

TLH: if you could live anywhere in the world for a year, money not an issue, where would it be and why?
CJ: New York City.  It’s the people.  The sights.  The sounds.  The energy.  I love it.  It’s where my husband and I traveled to for our honeymoon back in 2005.  I’d live there in a heartbeat.

TLH: favorite story/memory of past client/work/project
CJ: There are several wedding celebrations that stand out in my mind for different reasons and I can’t say that I have a favourite memory.  However, I will say that trust is a big deal for me.  The fact that people trust my creative vision and place their complete faith in me to create beautiful images, is incredibly humbling.  It really does warm my heart to know that people out there connect emotionally with my images.

TLH: what is your favorite foods to eat? to make? to buy? why?
CJ: To eat?  I don’t know because it’s about so much more than the food itself.  It’s about the experience!  For example, I love sweet cold watermelon slices on a hot summer day, a warm hearty soup on a cold blustery day, a salty bag of popcorn at the movie theatre, and eating at my favourite Thai, Japanese and Malaysian restaurants with my husband.  To make?  I love baking.  My cinnamon buns are off the hook!

TLH: where do you see yourself in your biz and life in 5 years?
CJ: Wow.  So much can happen in five years!  I definitely see myself and my husband still madly in love and raising our little family.  Our daughter, Malia, was born earlier this year, but thinking forward, we’d love to give her a sibling…or two.  I see myself continuing to pursue my passions in life and do things that I love.

TLH: how do you want to be remembered?
CJ: I want to be remembered as a loving, kind-hearted, selfless person.  A good mother, wife, sister, daughter who put other people’s needs before her own.
